CONGRATULATIONS: Jenny Onions has been awarded a Gold Award in the Community Category of the second Shrewsbury Town Council Mayor of Shrewsbury Awards ceremony held this week at the Guildhall. She receives this much-deserved award in recognition of her many years service to our church. The PCC celebrated with her over a glass or two of bubbly on Thursday evening. Well done, Jenny.

Dave Shepherd has served has Hon. Treasurer of the Church for the past ten years and has decided to retire at the end of the current year - in other words the end of April 2012. The PCC has done its best to persuade him otherwise but unfortunately to no avail! To ensure a smooth handover the Church is now looking to recruit Dave's successor and by doing so by September the appointee will be able to shadow Dave and importantly work with Dave on the preparation of the year end accounts. Accountancy knowledge is not a pre-requisite of the position; accounts are prepared using Excel, and there are current spreadsheets to meet the Church's accounting requirements. A knowledge of monetary matters including bank reconciliations together with computer skills including Excel should be viewed as being the fundamental tools for the job. You need to be able to spend approximately 15 hours per month on this (extra at year end). In addition to which there will be attendance at the bi-Monthly PCC Meetings (of which you are an automatic member) and the Finance & General Purposes Standing Committee.
