MISSION STATEMENT

Our Church's mission statement summarises the ministry that the Church is striving to offer to the parish of Christ Church, Shelton with Oxon. It is reproduced below.

Trusting that Christ Church is a focus of God's love, we welcome all to join in prayer, worship and friendship. As Christ's body, we aim to listen, to serve the needs of the growing community and to encourage all to use their varied talents.

PRAYER

O God, make the door of this parish wide enough to receive all who need human love and friendship, and a heavenly Father's care; and narrow enough to shut out all envy, pride and hate. Make its threshold smooth enough to be no stumbling block to children or straying feet, but rugged enough to turn back the tempter's power; make it a gateway to thine eternal kingdom, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Christ Church provides a very friendly environment in an attractive setting. Constructed in 1854 the church was originally built so that the people of Shelton and Oxon would be able to attend church services even when the River Severn was in full flood - they would not normally have been able to reach the churches in the town centre in this event. Nowadays the church caters for a parish of approximately 8500. The main church building has a seating capacity of about 150.
